Lesson 3 – Lailatul Qadr
The Arabic term Laylatul Qadr is made up of two words. Layl means “Night,” while “Qadr” means “Power, Decree, High Esteem, or Majesty.” In Islamic terms, it means the “Night of Power.”
Allah has revealed a Surah to portray the importance of this night:
“We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power: And what will explain to you what the Night of Power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down the angels and The Spirit, by Allah’s permission, on every errand: Peace!… This until the rise of morn!” (Al Qur’an 97:1-5)
