Lesson 3 – Physics & Hydrology

Physics in Quran is a topic that can be discussed for hours. The Quran is not only a book that contains information about Islam. It is a complete code of life. Physics in Quran is also discussed, which puts the scientists in awe. Today’s topic is physics in Quran and hydrology. We will look at the examples of both of these in the Quran.

Physics in Quran (The Existence of Subatomic Particles)

The early research conducted by a scientist, Democritus, about 23 centuries ago, said that an atom (Dharrah in Arabic)  is the smallest particle of matter. It cannot be split further. However, the latest advancements in science have shown that even an atom can also be divided further. 14 centuries ago, even the Arabs would’ve found it hard to believe that atoms could be further split. The physics in Quran, however, told us:

“The Unbelievers say, “Never to us will come the Hour”: say, “Nay! But most surely, by my Lord, it will come upon you; by Him Who knows the unseen – from Whom is not hidden the least little atom in the Heavens or on earth: Nor is there anything less than that, or greater, but is in the record perspicuous.” (Al Quran 34:3)

Allah clearly mentions in physics in Quran that there is an existence of particles smaller than an atom. This verse just shows the Highness of Allah and his knowledge. He has knowledge about everything present in this world.

Hydrology (The Water Cycle)

Physics and hydrology both are mentioned in the Quran. If we read the Quran, we can see clear verses mentioning the water cycle. Aristotle’s theory said water was condensed in cool mountain caverns and formed underground lakes fed springs.

People believed in this theory for a long time. However, today, we know that the rainwater that seeps into the cracks of the ground is responsible for this. How do we know about this? Of course, it is mentioned in the glorious Quran:

“See you not that Allah sends down rain from the sky, and leads it through springs in the earth? Then He causes to grow, there with, produce of various colors.” (Al Quran 39:21)

“And He sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead: Verily in that are signs for those who are wise.” (Al Quran 30:24)

You can openly challenge anyone to come up with a text dating 1400 years back to have such an accurate description of the water cycle as the Quran:

“And We send down water from the sky according to (Due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil, and We certainly are able to drain it off (with case).” (Al Quran 23:18)

Winds Impregnate the Clouds

The Quran also mentions the phenomenon of rain:

“It is Allah Who sends the winds and they raise the clouds: then does He spread them
in the sky as He wills and break them into fragments, until you see the rain-drops issue from the midst thereof; then when He has made them reach such of His servants as He wills, behold, they do rejoice!” (Al Quran 30:48)

Even the latest research on hydrology will agree with the verses revealed 1400 years ago! To learn more about the astonishing discoveries mentioned in the Quran, enroll in our course as Dr. Zakir Naik will bestow us with his knowledge.
