Lesson 32 - From This Ramadan To Next Ramadan

When Ramadan is over, Muslims need to continue their good deeds. The term “From this Ramadan to next Ramadan” refers to maintaining the good deeds throughout the year that are developed in Ramadan.

Maintaining Good Deeds From This Ramadan To Next Ramadan

To maintain the good deeds from this Ramadan to the next Ramadan, you should practice the following things after Ramadan:

  • Perform all five prayers in the congregation in the mosque.
  • Abstain from Haram things.
  • Engage in the Dhikr of Allah.
  • Perform Qiyam ul Layl- Tahajjud Salaah.
  • Spend generously in charity besides Zakat.
  • Make Dua’s and supplications
  • Forgive people’s faults

Expiate Your Sins from this Ramadan to the Next Ramadan

Staying on the right path and expiating your sins will help you take the momentum of good deeds from this Ramadan to next Ramadan:

Stay Righteous

The righteous people are always in doubt regarding their good deeds being accepted. This is a sign of them being on the right path. Allah says in the Quran: “Allah doth accept of the sacrifice of those who are righteous.” (Al Quran 5:27)

To take the good run of deeds from this Ramadan to the next Ramadan, you have to believe firmly that Allah is our Lord and follow the path told by Him.

“Verily those who say, ‘Our Lord is Allah’, and remain firm (on that path)- on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.” (Al Quran 46:13)

Daily Prayers from this Ramadan to the Next Ramadan

Another way to expiate your sins is to fast from this Ramadan to next Ramadan. It was narrated from Abu Hurairah [ra] that the Messenger of Allaah [pbuh] used to say:
“The five daily prayers, from one Jumu’ah to the next, and from one Ramadhaan to the next, are an expiation for whatever [sins] come in between, so long as one avoids major sins.” (Sahih Muslim Vol.1 Hadith 552)

Few But Constant Good Deeds

Constant good deeds can also help you to take the rhythm of good deeds from this Ramadan to the next Ramadan. A few but constant good deeds are loved by Allah (SWT).

Narrated ‘Aaishah (RA): The Prophet [PBUH] was asked, “What deeds are loved most by Allaah?” He said, “The most regular constant deeds even though they may be few.”  He added, “Take upon yourselves only those deeds which are within your ability.” (Sahih Al Bukhari Vol.8 Hadith 6465)

Dua After Ramadan

As good Muslims, we should make the following dua after Ramadan to make sure that we don’t deviate from the path of good deeds even after Ramadan.

“Our Lord! (they say) Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou has guided us, but grant us mercy from Thine own Presence; for Thou art the Grantor of bounties without measure.” (Al Quran 3:8)
